The observatory of competences

For a quick and efficient identification of training needs (initial and continuing training programs) in companies and administrations.

« If your company operates today like it did five years ago, then you certainly have problems. » Facing a tough economic reality, this sentence should concern any training manager.

The aim of the observatory of competencies is to identify, and even anticipate the competencies needed by staff members in a specific field of activity. The observatory of competencies enhances the improvement of the initial and continuing training offer, but also explores the development of new initiatives.

The methodology which has been in place for several years consists in identifying the competencies expected on the labour market and especially in job creating sectors. The gathered information is translated into recommendations for training and education managers. The sectors analyzed to date are: the trade, law, health, food and catering sectors, the case management, socio-professional integration and green professions.

Considering the growing emphasis on social competencies in companies, many competency assessment tools have been developed. The University of Luxembourg Competence Centre entered into an ambitious comparative testing project, aiming at comparing these tools used to recruit, manage competencies and talents in companies or public organizations, in initial or continuing education.

The University of Luxembourg Competence Centre acquired the rights for 4 tools selected upon precise criteria, learnt how to use them in different contexts in order to implement them in collaboration with companies or public institutions.

The reports of the different projects can be downloaded here below!
