New lifelong training management centre

The University of Luxembourg and the IUIL join forces and create a new lifelong training management centre

The nature of Luxembourg’s economic development led the government to identify a long term need for a highly qualified workforce in this country.

Lifelong training is one response to this challenge.

The University of Luxembourg and the IUIL (Institut Universitaire International Luxembourg) have decided to work together, thus uniting the academic strengths of the one with the adult teaching know-how of the other.

The IUIL is about to change its legal status and will be transformed into a new “centre” working under the overall supervision of the University of Luxembourg in cooperation with the minister responsible for higher education.

Associated to the University

It will have operational independence from the University while being associated to it and its mission will be twofold:
  • to manage university level lifelong training in Luxembourg, in cooperation with the university and other local actors;
  • to help upgrade certain initial and professional training courses
The strategic objective of the new unit, located at the IUIL’s headquarters in the House of Knowledge in Esch-Belval, will be to ensure employability of individuals and to develop skills within a variety of organizations.
